Mouth Breathing

Mouth breathing is where a person breathes through the mouth rather than the nose.  Though it is perfectly normal to breathe through the mouth during exercise for example, if a person continues to breathe through the mouth even whilst resting this is classed as abnormal. Chronic mouth breathing can cause gum disease and halitosis particularly if mouth breathing occurs whilst sleeping.  To find out more about this, read our Mouth Breathing article
